Absolutely I agree that faith is stronger than fear. I also understand that faith goes beyond praying and sometimes praying is not enough.
Not everyone reading this is a Christian and that is ok because spirituality comes in many different forms and levels…and spirituality is a connection that is unique to each of us. No matter who or what you believe in, praying for a desired outcome is not enough. If you are not spiritual, wishing and wanting something to happen is certainly not enough either. I’ve had this conversation with a handful of my clients and friends and recently, it came up again but this time I feel compelled to speak out about it.
Over the years I’ve watched many of my friends, family and clients struggle through difficult times and of course I’ve had my share too. There are times when we will not have control over or have the power to change a circumstance and so some of us will pray about it. Maybe we will pray for peace, for clarity or for strength. We pray for the best outcome. It may be illness related or some type of unforeseen tragedy. Then there are many other circumstances that we do have control over or do have the power and the ability to change. During these types of challenging times, yes many of us still pray but praying is not enough. We must take action.
My faith runs deep and strong and within that comes the understanding that God has equipped me with everything I need to get through any challenging time. Just because something is uncomfortable and difficult doesn’t mean I cannot change it. I keep the faith, pray for strength and clarity…then take action towards changing it. Depending on what the circumstances are, change may take time, there may be times when I take one step forward then two steps back, but as I keep the faith and keep moving forward, I will arrive on the other side…where I need to be.
For all of you that are facing circumstances that although may not be easy, but when you are honest with your self, you know you can take action to change them…now is the time. Praying is not enough. Stop waiting for things to work out on their own. They won’t. Believe that you have everything you need within you to make your life a life to be proud of. Love yourself enough to take the action you need to make your life a life to be proud of. You are worthy.
If you are in a bad relationship, yes pray for strength, then take action to change it.
If you are in a job that makes you miserable, yes pray for clarity, then take action to change it.
If you are surrounded by toxic people, yes pray for peace, then take action to change it.
If you want to feel better, look better, or improve your self at whatever level, pray for guidance, then take action to change it.
If you are a Christian and you pray to God, He already believes in you and has given you all you need to create your best life. Just praying is not enough. He wants you to take the action necessary. Honor Him and honor yourself. So many people want a guarantee that everything is going to work out great before they commit to changing…that is not what commitment is about. Clarity, strength, and fortitude come after you have genuinely committed. Live intentionally. Live life ON purpose. That is why you are here. ~Liza xox
